WEST Mercia Police have confirmed they have finished operations in Wolverley, after carrying out a controlled explosion following the discovery of a suspected live World War II shell.
Lowe Lane was closed off earlier by police who took to X (formerly Twitter) to warn people in the area not to be alarmed at hearing explosions.
They have since confirmed that the incident has concluded and “no further explosions should be heard”.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed what had happened and said: “Around midday today, Saturday December 9, we received a report a suspected live World War Two artillery shell had been found in a field in Lowe Lane near Kidderminster.
“This afternoon, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) safely carried out a controlled explosion.”
