POLICE stopped traffic on the M42 in Worcestershire following a concern for welfare for a man on the motorway underpass.
Traffic was brought to a halt while police spoke with the man and brought him to safety.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to a concern of welfare of a man on the overpass of M42 at the A435 roundabout around 1.55pm this afternoon (Thursday 7 December).
"Officers attended and the man was brought to safety.
"The road has been reopened."
Hour-long queues built up on the southbound carriageway.
