EVERYONE is wondering whether Worcester will wake up to a nice blanket of snow this Christmas.

It is coming to that time of year when people across the UK hope for a white Christmas to mark the festive occasion.

The Met Office's current long-range forecast said the UK is expected to remain generally mild and wet between December 21 and January 4.

There are chances of colder spells with the risk of ice.

The Met Office revealed that it cannot give a lot of detail into weather forecasts beyond five days into the future due to the changing nature of the atmosphere and cannot give localised forecasts.

It explained: "Whilst we can still forecast the general feel of the weather to a relatively high level of accuracy using our ensemble models, it becomes harder to offer local detail to as high a level of accuracy as our shorter range forecasts.

"For this reason, our text forecasts for five days and beyond are written on the scale of the UK as a whole."

This also means that despite there seeming to be a low chance of snow, this can change in the lead-up to Christmas.
