'IT'S a lovely place.'

That was the response of many Worcester News readers to Worcester being named one of the happiest places to live in the West Midlands.

Ranked third in the region and 30th nationally in the annual 'Happy at Home Index' by property website Rightmove, Worcester's announcement has stirred vibrant Facebook comments among people who live in the area.

Maria Jesus Fernandez said: "Moved here three months ago and loving it. A fresh start has definitely helped my mental health, Even got myself a job within two months of being here. Lovely place."

Derrick Fellows added: "Worcester... it's big enough to cope and small enough to care."

Anne Coyne summarised Worcester's appeal, writing: "Absolutely. I have lived in various cities and towns in Britain, and I was so grateful to come back. My three children have lived in other countries, and all came home to Worcester. It is a beautiful city."

Jean Cooper added: "I've lived in loads of places over the years and moved back to Worcestershire in 2018 and love it. It has everything, it's a lovely city with loads of different places to visit."

Many readers highlighted the city's urban landscape and access to green spaces, with Claire Bulman commenting: "I love that you can drive in any direction and end up in green space."

Others, like Matthew Glenn Hall, appreciated the friendliness of the city's inhabitants.

He said: "People are generally friendly and considerate. If you are indicating to change lanes, someone lets you out, if you are at a difficult junction, people flash and let you take the priority, even when it's busy. Don't get that in many places."

Historic buildings, cafes, and local pride continue to be recurring themes in readers' comments.

Chris Davis said: "It just has everything going for it. Iconic cathedral, cricket ground, beautiful guild hall, historic streets, the volatile river Severn and much more."
