DRINK and drug drivers, and those in court for similar offences, appear at Worcestershire courts weekly.

Drink and drug driving normally attracts a compulsory driving ban and usually results in a hefty fine.

Here are some of the drivers who were caught and appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court in November:

JACK BURGESS, of The Oaklands, Droitwich, admitted drink driving and possession of a Class A drug.

The 21-year-old was caught drink driving a Seat Ibiza on Blackpole Road on October 14.

The evidential sample Burgess gave was 48 mcg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg.

And, on the same day, Burgess was found to have cocaine in his possession in Kidderminster.

Burgess was disqualified from driving for 14 months, which will be reduced by 14 weeks if he completes a drink-drive awareness course.

He was also fined £369 and ordered to pay costs of £135, £246 victim surcharge.

ELIZABETH POUNSETT, 55, of Mayfield Road, Worcester, admitted drug driving when she appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Pounsett smoked cannabis out of the driver's side window of her Toyota Corolla, spotted by an off duty police officer.

Pounsett was fined £387 and disqualified from driving for a year.

Pounsett was also ordered to pay costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £155.

JONATHAN WYNN, of College Road, Malvern, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

The 57-year-old committed the offence in Worcester on June 10 - Wynn failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so.

Wynn was jailed for nine week, suspended for a year - magistrates saying the offence was so serious only a custodial sentence could be justified in his case.

As part of his suspended sentence magistrates ordered he complete 110 hours of unpaid work.

Wynn was disqualified from driving for three years, which will be reduced by 36 weeks if he successfully completes a drink-drive awareness course.

The defendant was also ordered to pay £320 costs, £154 victim surcharge.

ADRIAN MCARTHUR, of Skylark Drive, Pershore - a former pub licensee - had been drinking in a public house on November 3 when police were notified of a concern he was going to drive home in his Nissan parked outside.

The 50-year-old was stopped by police in Wyre Road, Pershore, later giving an evidential sample of 87mcg in 100ml of alcohol - the legal limit being 35mcg.

McArthur was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £120 and told to pay costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £48.
