TWO women were rescued by firefighters from a stranded car in flood water in a Worcestershire village.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) crews from Worcester and Pershore, a boat crew from Worcester and water first responders from Pershore were called at 9.33pm on Monday night, (December 4). 

They discovered a car in deep water in Huddington.

A HWFRS spokesperson said: "Two females, one in her teens and one in her 40s, were stranded with their car surrounded by flood water and were assisted to safety by fire service personnel using a sled.

"No other emergency services attended."

Firefighters left the scene at 10.39pm.

Meanwhile a crew from Pershore Fire Station, with a boat crew from Evesham and the water first responders from Pershore, were called to another rescue at 5.33am on Tuesday morning, (December 5). 

A vehicle was stuck in shallow water in Fladbury.

The fire service spokesperson said: "One vehicle, with one male occupant in his 50s, was pushed out of floodwater by fire service personnel.

"Worcestershire Highways requested to close the road from Jubilee Bridge to Fladbury Mill due to deep flood water."

No other emergency services attended the rescue, with firefighters leaving that scene just after 6am.
