THE large flat-pack wooden stalls and anti-terrorist barriers are being assembled in the city centre ahead of the Christmas Fayre which will open to crowds this week.
The structures were being put together in the High Street today ahead of the Victorian Christmas Fayre 2023, carried on a JCB.
Meanwhile, anti-terrorist barriers were also installed at key locations including the entrance to Broad Street in Worcester.
The fayre is set to bring festive cheer to the city from this Thursday until Sunday, December 3.
The fayre first came to the city in 1992 and traders have been setting up their stalls and welcoming visitors with the picturesque backdrop of Friar Street and New Street for 20 years.
Around 200 stalls will be lining the streets with handmade items and Christmas treats this year.
The Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre has been recognised as one of the top 25 Christmas markets in the UK according to Enjoy Travel.
Christmas markets originated in Germany in the Middle Ages but continue to be popular in the UK, and across Europe, today.
Worcester's Fayre is ranked 24th on the list of the top 25 Christmas markets in the UK with the city council's chair of Worcester City Council’s Place and Economic Development committee, Robyn Norfolk, saying it was 'not a surprise' the city was ranked so highly.
