A FAMILY-run farm has been hit by a barn fire involving 100 tonnes of hay.
Churchfields Farm, in Salwarpe, a popular venue, café, micro-dairy and salt manufacturer, saw one of its barns catch fire early this morning (Thursday, November 23).
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Crews were in attendance at the fire for most of the day, receiving the first call at 5.45am, and no injuries were reported.
A spokesperson said: "After the call we mobilised two appliances and a water carrier to the scene. The fire invovled 100 tonnes of hay.
"We had crews at the scene of the fire until 5.47pm this afternoon. Relief crews were used all throughout the day."
Following the fire, Churchfields remained closed for the rest of the day, and will also be closed tomorrow (Friday, November 24).
A statement was released on social media this afternoon from Churchfields, thanking friends and family as well as Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue team.
It said: "Well, what a day that has been. Our heartfelt thanks go to the amazing firefighters from the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue team, our friends and family for providing food and support, but also to the amazing team at Churchfields.
"We simply could not do it without you. Thank you. We will remain closed tomorrow to allow us to take stock and be in touch if anything affects you in any way.
"Thank you for your continued support."
