THE wait is over as Worcester's very own Monopoly board game has hit the shelves.
Crowds filled a little pop-up shop on Broad Street to see the grand reveal of the city's board game, which Toys and Games Worcester designed.
The board features long-lasting businesses and landmarks throughout the city, like the Elgar Statue in Cathedral Square and Worcestershire Sauce.
Toys and Games Worcester has wanted the new board to last generations and kept this in mind when designing it.
Mayor Louis Stephen said: "I think Monopoly is one of those games which the families go to, and I think it is going to be so much more special playing a game designed from our own streets and our own people.
"It is a great thing celebrating Worcester's success and seeing those successful businesses and the rising stars of the city."
The board features special Community Chest and Chance Cards, named after local news organisations like Worcester News and Radio Wyvern.
The cards themselves are also Worcester-related, with one reading: "You have been injured in a battle of Worcester re-enactment event. Pay £50."
One of the squares on the board is dedicated to Worcester City Football Club, which said they are honoured to be included.
Stephen Goode, the Worcester City Football Club chair, said the team would be signing their Monopoly boards and selling them to their fans.
Tim Evans, owner of Toys and Games, said: "Worcester is a special place to live. I have been here for 50 years, so I am really pleased to get this done. I wouldn't live anywhere else apart from Worcester.
"We are really pleased with how we got this set together and it is a legacy moment for us as a business."
The special event, which took place today (Saturday), also featured a special guest visit from Milburn Pennybags (Mr Monoply), who posed with guests.
Among the guests were four lucky winners who had won a Worcester News competition to get their hands on the game.
David Gale, one of the winners, has lived in Worcester for 18 years and said he would keep his board as a souvenir for his grandchildren.
"I have seen the changes in Worcester since I have been here, and I hope to keep my board for the grandchildren. Then I will buy one and we can use that at Christmas."
The game will be exclusively sold from Toys and Games Worcester and can be brought at a retail cost of £34.99.
