THESE striking photos provide a rare glimpse inside Worcester city centre's 'most environmentally friendly' eco homes which are soon to go on the market.

The developer at 52 and 54 Moor Street in Worcester has secured an EPC rating of 99 out of 100, which the agents say is unheard of in the city centre.

The Moor Street eco homes are said to be the greenest in Worcester city centre as all the stops have been pulled out to provide homes which are as sustainable and carbon neutral as possible.

Sam Golding of Ardor Properties Ltd said the two eco homes, built in a disused car park, were as close as the company had ever come to being carbon neutral.

The first of the homes which is 1,044 square feet is to go on the market for £325,000. The second will go on the market in the new year. Both are described as three-storey townhouses complete with underfloor heating.

The 36-year-old developer of Newland, near Worcester, has been described by the agents as 'a young developer with a very different approach'.

"They are the first eco homes with that rating in Worcester city centre," he said.

The homes, which needed to be south-facing, use ground floor heat pumps and solar panels. Windows fittings are handmade from mahogany for greater sustainability while the bricks are handmade in Wolverhampton.

"As much material as possible has been locally sourced. The homes are as close to carbon neutral as they can possibly be," he added.

For example, Worcester-based Joule Energy has installed the Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump. Another local company - Hands on Electrical from Gloucestershire - fitted the solar panels.

A spokesperson for EmDot Property Agents said:   "He really has a clear vision and has gone above and beyond with what he's done in relation to the sustainables."

She said the EPC score of 99 out of 100 was something she 'hadn't seen before'.

She added: ""The Battery is manufactured by Solax. There are two 3kw batteries for on-site power storage and eight panels. The panels total 3.2kw.

"Air Source Heat Pump ASHP is the newest top of the range Mitsubishi Eco Dan 6. It’s a 5kw system with 210litre unvented hot water storage cylinder to fully satisfy all hot water needs.

"The house has its own Ventaxia Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit, which filters and heats incoming air whilst expelling humid damp air from all bathrooms, WC and the kitchen.

"There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.

"All windows through the property are triple glazed and argon gas filled, this helps to maintain heat in winter, cooling in summer and very successfully blocks out unwanted noise The front elevation features hand-made mahogany windows, Lindab galvanised gutters and down pipes and a composite front door with oversized vertical brushed steel handle."
