A WELL-KNOWN hairdresser is bidding Warndon a fond farewell to build her own salon in memory of her father.
Lisa Perry, owner of Serene Hair and Beauty in Ankerage Green, will leave behind the salon she has run for 16 years to build a new business.
The new salon will be a handmade wooden Nordic lodge called Bizzy’s Hair Studio - Bizzy being Mrs Perry's father's nickname.
She hopes his legacy will be able to live on through the salon after he passed away 15 months ago.
Bizzy’s Hair Studio will be at Hop Pockets Barn on Taylors Lanes, Broomhall, in Mrs Perry's garden, allowing her to spend more time at home with her family.
"Bizzy is the nickname for the family. My maiden name is Bizwell. I thought in Dad's memory to call it after him so that Dad's legacy can live on," she said.
"I think it is a bittersweet feeling.
"I need to find a work-life balance as I don't really spend much time at home and after my dad's death, I want to spend more time with my mum.
"It will be hard as I have been there for so long but I will also only be eight minutes away from the salon (Serene Hair and Beauty)."
She said she has loved owning Serene Hair and Beauty and the past 16 years have been full of ups and downs.
"We opened in a recession and we bit the bullet and have done really well.
"Covid was probably the toughest time and lockdown was hard for me.
"Once back, we had three Christmases and it has had its ups and downs, but mostly, leaving is coming due to our lease coming to an end and my dad passing away.
"I have decided to work from home and look after my mum."
Mrs Perry will leave Serene Hair and Beauty in February when Bizzy’s Hair Studio officially opens.
The new studio will be built from the ground up and will feature a log burner.
Mrs Perry wants the new studio to have a homely atmosphere for her customers where they can come, relax and look out at a scenic setting while getting their hair done.
No official opening date has been given for Bizzy’s Hair Studio.
