THE River Severn's levels are now expected to peak tomorrow (Thursday) after a flood alert was issued for Worcester.
River levels are now predicted to peak in Worcester between 3.5m and 3.9m on Thursday (November 16) according to the latest flood alert for Worcestershire.
Diglis's river levels are expected to peak on Friday (November 17) between 2.8m and 3.2m.
River Severn's levels are continuing to rise at the Diglis river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall, the government website warned.
It said: "Flooding of roads and farmland is possible today (Wednesday).
"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River from Highley to Tewkesbury.
"Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Upton upon Severn, South Quay, Diglis Parade and the Hylton Road towpath.
"Flooded drains may affect the racecourse and Worcester County cricket ground."
They advised people living near the river to install property level protection if required.
Bewdley is predicted to peak between 3m to 3.5m on Thursday (November 16).
The River Severn is predicted to peak at Kempsey Yacht Club between 4.9m to 5.4m on Friday and at Saxons Lode it should reach 3.7m to 4.2m on Friday.
The statement continued: "Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days with further peaks possible.
"We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Please avoid contact with flood water."
The next update is expected by 9am on Thursday or as the situation changes, it added.
