Francini's Café named in the Good Food Awards 2023/24

Francini Café De Columbia, in Angel Place, was one of just two businesses in Worcester that was named in the awards, making it into the Good Food Awards for Cafés category.

Owner Francini Osorio was delighted and 'very surprised' that his café made the prestigious list.

He said: "This is fantastic for us, I am so happy to get this news and I am very proud of what we have achieved here.

"I never really thought we would get to this stage in Worcester so I am very grateful to the city for embracing us.

"My business is coffee and I have my own farm and roast the coffee right here in Worcester. After seven years, I think it is easy to let standards slip, which is why I keep everyone on their toes to deliver the best possible standards."

Francini Cafe De Colombia has been Worcester's top-ranked cafe for three years running on TripAdvisor. It came to the city in 2014 and prides itself on using only 100 per cent Arabica Colombian coffee.

Mr Osorio gets the coffee beans from his own farm in Colombia, which is 50 to 60 square miles.

He grows various beans on his farm, which he can cultivate because of the range in altitudes. 

The farm produces about 30 tonnes of coffee per year.

The business offers traditional coffee - cappuccino, latte, mocha, flat white, espresso, milkshakes, smoothies, soft drinks, and a range of teas, including English breakfast and Earl Grey. 

Burger Shop Worcester, on Cherry Tree Walk, was also mentioned in the 'Good Food Awards for Takeaways'.

The first Burger Shop in Hereford opened its doors in 2014, and Burger Shop Worcester opened in 2016, utilising a space under the railway arches.

Both of its locations were mentioned in this year's awards.

The Good Food Awards were established in 2002, and aim to promote and bolster local, independent businesses that create 'delectable food'.
