"SPEECHLESS" is how a nursery has described feeling after receiving overwhelming amounts of support following an arson attack.

Several parts of the outside building, summer house, resources and children's toys were destroyed after a deliberate fire at Fairfield Day Nursey last month.

The people of Worcester have now rallied together to provide as much support as possible for the nursery, including setting up a GoFundMe to help replace items lost in the fire.

"We have received messages from parents, ex-parents and the community and even had businesses message us wanting to donate and show support.

"People want to help rebuild what we lost and, as a small privately owned business, we are surprised by all the support.

"Everyone's generosity has been so unexpected and we had many offers to set up a GoFundMe."

So far, the GoFundMe page has raised £500.

Fairfield Day Nursey has received offers from people on wooden sheds but unfortunately cannot accept them because of the future fire risks.

It will now be looking for metal storage units.

One business, 5 Star Recycling, has also lent a hand in helping the nursery by cleaning up the damage.

"Thank you does not seem enough, but no other words could be said to honour the support we have received.

"It is heartwarming because staff see the nursery as a home from home, and we were destroyed when it happened.

"For us to get this support is very heartfelt and it is so nice for people to be behind us."

Smoke poured out onto Ploughmans Close and Gamekeepers Drive as fire crews and police tried to tame the fire that nearly spread into neighbours' gardens.

Homeowners lined the streets in dressing gowns and slippers as they watched in shock while a section of the nursery was gutted on Saturday, October 28.

Police and fire investigators have since confirmed the incident is being treated as arson.
