TEN youngsters have auditioned successfully for membership of WODYS – Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section.
They were among 36 of 8 to 18-year-olds who sang, danced and acted in a bid to join the group.
Early next year they will be up before an audition panel again as they compete with about 50 other members of WODYS for parts in The Addams Family musical, to be staged at Worcester’s Swan Theatre from Tuesday, August 6 to Saturday, August 10, 2024.
The second auditions will follow a series of workshops in various forms of stagecraft being held before Christmas.
WODYS co-founder, producer and director David Humphries said: “As usual, the standard at the auditions to become a member of WODYS was extremely high and presented the auditioning panel with some difficult decisions. We were very pleased at the way all auditionees had learnt the audition pieces and the enthusiasm shown at the two workshops held prior to auditions.
"It is unfortunate that we couldn’t take everyone, but unsuccessful candidates are offered a place in the WODYS academy (WODAC) where they have a chance to help build their confidence and performing skills. We hope they will take this opportunity and audition again for the group next year.
“I am very pleased with the continued interest which is shown in WODYS and the high standard of young talent that we have here in Worcester.”
