IT WAS unusually quiet on several typically busy city centre roads as improvement work got underway.
Queues of traffic were replaced by work vehicles and contractors as the next phase of Future High Streets roadworks got underway.
The Foregate, Shaw Street at St Nicholas Street were closed today (Sunday, November 5) for the work to get underway.
Worcestershire County Council's Highways and Travel team said the roads would be closed between 7.30am and 5pm approximately.
Despite the closure to traffic, the pavements remained open as normal and businesses in the area were able to continue trading.
