EXTRA staff needed to be drafted in for a Worcestershire countryside pub's fireworks display because it was so popular.

The Chequers at Crowle held a successful fireworks night on Friday, November 3, which had street food, an outdoor bar and two displays.

It was so popular that more staff were drafted in from the pub's sister boozer The Stag at Offchurch to help out during the evening.

People quickly snapped up tickets for the fireworks display with people warned to stay away if they had not purchased entry as tickets were not on sale at the gate.

Scores of people gathered in the pubs garden to watch the spectacular display which lit up the night sky as well as enjoy the food and drink on offer.

Ollie Bradley, general manager of the pub, said everything seemed to be on the pub's side going into the event - including the November weather.

He said: "We had a blast. We had to call in extra staff from our sister pub, The Stag at Offchurch, to help us man the outside bar.

"The two displays were great for the kids who needed to go to bed.

"We would love to see them all again next year.

"We were lucky to get the Libertine burger truck into the field as well."

Libertine Burger, who provided food at the event, are a popular chain with locations in Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon and Rugby.

"I also want to say a special thank you to Massive thank you to @djwinjunior for really lifting the atmosphere with some great music.

"We really hope every customer we had last night thoroughly enjoyed themselves."

Mr Bradley said that the parking situation at the event was also smooth with no issues throughout the night.
