A tailor shop has opened in a shopping courtyard in Worcester.

Magic Stitch is the latest shop to move into The Hopmarket.

Situated in Unit 17, Magic Stitch offers a bespoke tailoring and alteration service.

It is owned and run by Majid Abaspor, who previously owned a similar shop in London’s Oxford Circus for more than 20 years.

Majid said: “Magic Stitch offers a wide variety of tailoring and alteration services.

“We pride ourselves on providing high quality workmanship at reasonable prices. My experience, customer service and family ethos are at the heart of what we do.”

Majid, who now lives in Worcester with his family, is originally from Iran.

Bill Simpson, chairman of The Hopmarket Charitable Trust said: “We would like to welcome Majid and Magic Stitch to The Hopmarket.

“Supporting independent businesses is more critical than ever. Majid’s craftsmanship looks set to fit in very well with other Hopmarket shops including Maelhaus Vintage and Designer, La Danse, The Closet and Paradox Streetwear.

“We wish him all the best in his new venture.”

Majid added: “I hope to build and establish my business in The Hopmarket and have a positive impact on footfall in this beautiful setting.”

Magic Stitch offers jacket and suit alterations, wedding and bridal dress alteration, prom dress alteration, trouser alteration and repair, leather and biker gear alterations, zip replacement or repair, curtains and soft furnishings as well as a dry cleaning service.

Worcester’s Hopmarket is home to a range of independent retailers, including hairdressers, gift shops and cafes.

The Hopmarket has been a place to do business since 1731 where dealers came to trade hops.  In the early 1900s the site was replaced with the current building to become a hotel and bank before being converted to a thriving shopping courtyard.
