Drink and drug drivers, and those in court for similar offences, appear in Worcestershire courts every week.

Drink and drug driving normally attracts a compulsory driving ban and usually results in a hefty fine.

Here are some of the drivers who were caught and have appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court in October: 

 

MARCUS HILL, 21, of Sedge Close, Worcester, was caught drink driving for a second time. 

Hill was caught in Tunnel Hill, Upton on October 1. 

Hill's evidential sample given was 75mcg in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg. 

Hill was disqualified from driving for 38 months and fined £345.

 

VALENTIN IONITA, of St John's, Worcester, changed his plea to guilty to the charge of failing to provide a specimen for analysis. 

The 53-year-old committed the offence on September 3. 

A Newton hearing - an administrative hearing to determine the facts - was scheduled for January 15 next year.

Ionita will be sentenced after that hearing. 

 

WILLIAM BRISTOW, of Carrock Fell, Worcester, admitted drug driving. 

The 18-year-old was caught driving a Honda Civic in Castle Street, Worcester, on May 4 when he had 5.8 micrograms of cannabis in his system - the legal limit being 2 micrograms. 

Bristow is to be sentenced on January 29 next year - the adjournment being granted by magistrates to determine if there had been special reasons not to disqualify him. 

 

TOBY HUGHES, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, admitted drink driving. 

The 26-year-old was caught in Spring Lane, Malvern, on September 16. The evidential specimen he gave showed he had 50mcg in 100ml - the legal limit being 35mcg. 

Hughes was disqualified from driving for 14 months. 

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £135, £48 victim surcharge.

DARREN SCATTERGOOD, of Lambert Road, Worcester, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis. 

The 58-year-old committed the offence in Worcester on July 29.

Scattergood was jailed for eight weeks, and suspended for two years, 20 days. 

Scattergood was banned for 48 months. 

 

SHANE HACKETT, of Beech Tree Way, Lower Broadheath, admitted drink driving. 

The 35-year-old committed the offence on August 24 when he drove a BMW on August 24 on Martley Road when he had 85mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg. 

Hackett was disqualified from driving for 20 months which will be reduced by 20 weeks if Hackett completes a drink-drive awareness course. 

He was also fined £500 and ordered to pay costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £200. 

 

MAX DIDCOTT, of Chestnut Walk, Worcester, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis. 

The 20-year-old committed the offence on September 6 in Broadway. 

Didcott was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay costs of £135 and £48 victim surcharge.
