We speak to Dermot O’Connor from art is ar’t the gallery based in the Crowngate Shopping Centre opposite House Of Fraser.

How long has the business been running?
Launched May 2021 in Redditch and moved to Worcester in November 2021, fitted out and opened in early December 2021 in the city.

What does the business do?
A contemporary art retail gallery, selling artworks by award winning, internationally renowned artists, as well as supporting local artists.
We link up with educational art departments too, currently exhibiting art by Worcester Sixth Form College students.

What is your most memorable or proudest moment in business?
We have two artists involved with the gallery, Lucy Silina an employee and Jessica Pahl in residence - I’m currently not doing much art!

Jess has developed her art and her esteem while here in the gallery - the therapy of art. Lucy has grown in art, sold several beautiful pieces, and has had one submission selected for the final of Broadway Arts Festival Open Art Competition this year.

These have been great achievements to witness.

Anything else we should know?
We bring the best art from award winning contemporary artists from around the world to the city.
We are also looking to inspire artists at all levels by exhibiting local artists and with our aim to offer art demonstrations and art events at the gallery going forward and in the city.
