A BODY has been discovered in the river Severn during a search for a missing 19-year-old man.
The body was found in the river at Upton, West Mercia Police confirmed today (Wednesday).
The discovery follows searches for the man who went missing on Saturday.
Formal identification has not yet taken place.
Searches took place near Upton Bridge, in Upton, after the teenager went missing on Saturday morning.
A call reported a 19-year-old man had entered the River Severn from the bridge.
Police search-trained officers, along with the police helicopter and firefighters were immediately deployed to the area to search for the missing man.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "A body has been recovered from the River Severn in Upton-upon-Severn following searches for a 19-year-old man who went missing there on Saturday.
"Formal identification has not yet taken place."
