Police have warned parents on the school run to be mindful of where they park.

The warning comes after parents at a Worcester school said they were being targeted by traffic wardens.

West Mercia Police posted on X, formerly Twitter, about the problems that parking around schools can cause.

“School parking during drop-off and pickup times can cause congestion, unnecessary hazards and a concern for local residents,” a spokesperson said on the Malvern Cops account.

“Please be mindful of where you park and ensure you do this safely.”

The statement was accompanied by a picture of an officer outside Hallow CE Primary School, near Worcester.

Earlier this week, parents of disabled children at Fort Royal Community Primary told how they were being targeted by traffic wardens and police while on the school run.

They say they need to park close to the school and sometimes have no choice but to park on double yellow lines.

“There was uproar this morning - we feel we are being discriminated against," said Donna Adkins, whose son attends the school. "It feels like they are persecuting us because they know we’re easy targets."

Worcester City Council said its “civil enforcement officers have been visiting a number of areas where complaints about school-related parking have been received”.
