A MAN who is to be sentenced for attempted murder and sexual assault of a pensioner faces a further wait as he has had his case adjourned.
Anthony Roberts, 56, attacked the woman in the early hours of Sunday, May 7 on Kleve Walk in Worcester.
Roberts, of Green Hill, Worcester, admitted attempted murder, sexual assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place at Birmingham Crown Court in August.
Roberts was due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, (October 2), but his case was re-scheduled.
The defendant is now set to be sentenced at the court on Tuesday, (October 10).
Roberts' attack left his 71-year-old victim fighting for her life in hospital. She has since been discharged.
News of the incident shocked people in South Quay, who were enjoying a weekend stroll by the River Severn the following day.
A person sitting by the riverside told us: “We have seen what’s happened and we can’t believe it."
