A FARE dodger is counting the cost after not paying for a ticket before boarding a Great Western Railway (GWR) service earlier this year.
The case of Daniel Hollins-Freeman, of Pear Tree Drive, Kempsey, was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, (September 29).
Martin Calvert, prosecuting, said the 23-year-old arrived on a GWR service at Worcester Foregate Station on March 30 this year.
After being challenged by an inspector it emerged that Hollins-Freeman had not paid for a ticket of £6.70.
Following nothing being heard from the defendant, and the company not receiving payment, magistrates fined him £220.
Hollins-Freeman was also ordered to pay £6.70 compensation, costs of £180 and £88 victim surcharge - a total of £494.70 within 28 days.
