THE reason why people were told to evacuate a shopping centre in Worcester has been revealed.
A shopper in Boots claimed police ran in shouting 'get out' while police and ambulances were outside the store.
On Broad Street, Crowngate Shopping Centre had a crowd forming around its Broad Street entrance while a fire alarm was going off.
According to one shopper, the fire alarm had been going off for over ten minutes and people are being told they cannot walk through.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said nothing appeared on its systems, so it believes it has not been called to the incident.
However, it has now been revealed the reason for the evacuation was a scheduled fire drill.
A spokesperson for Crowngate said: "We had a planned fire evacuation session today, these are booked in 6 months in advance."
