WORK is well underway to transform a former Wetherspoons pub into a new bar and grill.
Busy workmen have been spotted at the site in Foregate Street - which was formerly The Postal Order pub - in recent weeks.
The site, 18 Foregate Street which is on the corner with Pierpoint Street, is to become Aurora Bar and Grill.
When we visited the site earlier this week the outside of the former Post Office has now been painted while paper had been put up on the windows to prevent people looking in to see the work going on inside.
The building previously had a large sign that read 'Opening Soon', 'Bar and Grill' and 'Under New Management' - but that was removed.
The Postal Order sign is still up above the door.
The owners of the new Aurora Bar and Grill have submitted a planning application to Worcester City Council asking for permission to install the new LED sign on the front of the Foregate Street building.
The council’s conservation officer said he believed the sign “had the potential to appear over-dominant” and “could harm the visual quality of the building.”
It remains unclear when the opening date will be.
The city's Wetherspoons pub went up for sale by Savills Estate agency in the summer of last year.

The Postal Order announced its 'last orders' on January 8, and the following day workers had moved in and a number of boxes full of items and pieces of wood were laid out on the pub floor.
In 1997, the Postal Order first opened and has been part of the city for the past 25 years.
The Postal Order's name was inspired by its previous use as a post office dating from the 1880s. By the 1940s, the historic building also housed the city's telephone exchange.
Wetherspoons still has The Crown in Worcester city centre on Broad Street.
