CONCERNED neighbours called 999 after a car was on fire in the early hours of the morning

Police are now investigating what caused the fire in Portefields Road, in Tolladine, at 1.34am on Saturday (September 9).

Two Worcester Fire Station crews were sent and firefighters found a car was well alight on the road.

The fire service received ten calls about the blaze and were fighting the flames for an hour.

A spokesperson said: “The flames were extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet.

"There were no casualties."

West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Portefields Road in Worcester at around 1.40am on Saturday 9 September following a report of a car fire. 

"Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing."
