THE Worcester Warriors Supporters Trust have reported that there is another willing bidder waiting in the wings to buy Worcester Warriors.
The Trust say that Atlas - the current owners of the club - are "not the only option" when it comes to selling the rugby club.
Atlas have not yet completed the transaction of purchasing WRFC Trading Ltd and are required to pay a further £1m by October 9.
The Supporters Trust revealed in their social media post that they are aware of another bidder wanting to buy Worcester Warriors.
"Worcester Warriors Supporters Trust is aware of at least one other party still trying hard to purchase the rugby club in its entirety," it read.
"Their objectives are to return elite-level men's rugby to Sixways, to work closely with the Warriors Foundation and Worcester Warriors' Women's team and to ensure that Worcester Warriors remain central to the community.
"The bidder's business plan always included the involvement of a Supporters Trust in the running of the rugby club; this plan was put forward well before our working group had even considered setting up a trust. We feel that this is a clear indication of their wish to fully engage with supporters.
"They hope to achieve their aims by injecting capital to ensure the short and medium-term futures of the club.
"This would be followed by substantial investment in the infrastructure through their equity business, looking towards long-term sustainability. We are assured that they can provide (and have provided) full proof of funds.
"They are committed to following RFU stipulations, including that of paying rugby creditors."
Administrators Begbies Traynor responded to the post, saying they had approached the Trust asking for further details.
In response to this on Twitter, the Trust said: "We emailed Begbies to tell them that we knew of one funded bidder ready to proceed should Atlas fail. They asked for their names in a phishing exercise.
"We declined as they already know their names. We have never disputed that Atlas have completed on Trading."
Atlas completed the purchase of WRFC Trading Ltd on May 2 but Begbies confirmed last month that there is still £1m left to pay, which must be completed by October 9.
But Atlas have been incredibly quiet in recent months, leading to plenty of speculation and frustration and sources close to the Worcester News suggest that Atlas have walked away from the deal, or are at least preparing to.
The club have been in administration since September 2022. Atlas were named as the preferred bidders in February of this year but seven months on, the club's future remains up in the air.
