POLICE say they were called to reports of multiple gunshots in Worcester on Tuesday night, (August 29)
West Mercia Police says officers went out after witnesses informed them of possible gunshots being heard in Blackpole Road, Worcester, at 9.05pm.
Police have said no one was injured and have reassured the public.
Chief Inspector Dave Troth said: I would like to reassure the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.
"Residents in the area will see an increase in police presence while enquiries continue.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact DC Callum Godwin on 07816343902 or email callum.godwin@westmercia.police.uk quoting incident number 00466_I_29082023."
Police have said enquires are ongoing, and confirmed no arrests have been made.
There were reports of a large police activity on Tuesday night.
People reported seeing armed police and the road cordoned off near King George V playing fields.
One neighbour said: "I saw two black Volvo cars, armed police in balaclavas and a dog handler circling Warndon from 9pm last night."
Another reported hearing a loud noise.
The person from Brickfields Road said: "I heard a loud bang coming from Blackpole Road. Sounded like a car crash. I'm deaf, but could hear it from here". He thinks it was around half 8.30pm and 9pm."
A police helicopter also flew across the city last night, believed to be linked to the police investigation.
A police car was spotted in Blackpole Road earlier today.
