A CITY curry house has been given a two-star food hygiene rating on appeal after initially being handed a one-star rating.
Little India Express in Ronkswood Hill was initially handed a one food hygiene rating by the Food Standard Agency.
However, after appealing the decision, which took place on July 27, the takeaway was awarded a two-star rating on August 18.
A two out of five rating means some improvement is necessary.
The report said improvements were necessary in the categories of food handling, which included hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
It also included management of food safety needed improvement.
The takeaway has now been given a list of improvements it will need to make before its next inspection, which could be as soon as six months.
Worcester News has contacted Little India Express for a comment but the business has not provided an official response before publication.
Hygiene inspections are carried out by the local authority.
Venues are given a score out of five, which they have to display both at the premises and online.
