A POPULAR county music festival kicks off a four-day celebration today.

The Sunshine Music Festival, in Upton-upon-Severn, returned today (Thursday, August 24), and will continue over the weekend.

Across five stages, a wide variety of acts will be performing including Ronan Keating, Marc Almond of Soft Cell and a lot more.

The event will also be hosting "the UK's largest inflatable land," belly dancers, stunt shows, a big top full circus and a mountain bike display.

There will also be a food village for attendees to get refreshments and a kid's disco for younger attendees.

Family tickets for the event have already sold out, but there are still adult weekend tickets, children's tickets and Thursday entry tickets all still available to purchase online.

Children's tickets are free, an adult weekend ticket is £134 and entry for Thursday is £25.

Scottish pop favourites 'The Proclaimers', made up of brothers Charlie and Craig Reed, have had to cancel a number of upcoming gigs due to Charlie suffering voice loss, including the Sunshine Music Festival.

However, organisers worked quickly to find a replacement which they say prompted a positive reaction from fans.

A festival spokesperson said: “Among the most inventive and influential bands in the history of popular music, 10cc is one of the very few acts to have achieved commercial, critical and creative success in equal measure.

“10cc has sold more than 30 million albums around the world and the band’s longevity is a testament to their timeless songs, as is their continuing to traverse the globe and play countries as disparate as Iceland and South Africa, Latvia and Japan, as well as across Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Canada and the US.

“We are privileged and delighted to welcome them back to Sunshine Festival.”

The band is coming straight to Sunshine Festival after completing its tour of Australia.

The event has also already confirmed it will be returning for 2024, which will be the 15-year anniversary of the festival.
