LORRIES were stuck on a narrow city road for almost an hour due to poor parking according to a city councillor.
Two HGVs became stuck on Pope Iron Road, near Gheluvelt Park yesterday (Tuesday, August 22) after being blocked by a car on the pavement, on their way to the Kepax Bridge development.
A picture taken by Cllr Hannah Cooper, Worcester city councillor for Arboretum ward, shows the HGVs parked on the road whilst the situation was ongoing.
Cllr Cooper said that a lack of parking restrictions in the area is costing Worcestershire County Council time and money.

She said: "There was a car parked on the pavement, which although not illegal is something I do not condone, that caused these issues.
"There were two HGVs making deliveries to the site and were not able to pass due to how narrow the road is.
"There was also a third HGV on the site that could not leave due to the fact the car was on the pavement.
"In the end, they had to be re-routed to the St Clement's side of the development after almost an hour.
"Lots of residents are already annoyed with the parking situation and it gets exacerbated drastically by the ongoing works and popularity of the splash pad in the summer holidays."

Cllr Mel Allcott, Worcestershire County Councillor for Claines division, did not agree that money and time were being wasted by the parking situation.
She said: "This was an unfortunate incident around inappropriate parking, but I don't think it's ongoing. It was a one-off incident and the materials were able to be delivered in the end."
The Kepax bridge project, which started in October, will see a new walking and cycling bridge from Gheluvelt Park to the former Kepax landfill site in Worcester.
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: “This was a one-off and has not affected the Kepax Bridge project in any way.
"We simply had the stone deliveries taken to the west side of the river on this occasion.
“There will be traffic management arrangements put in place by the County Council when the crane and sections of the bridge are delivered.”
Worcestershire County Council shared bird's eye pictures of the multi-million-pound construction of the Kepax Bridge in Gheluvelt Park earlier this month.
