A 35-YEAR-old man has denied drugging a woman before raping her. 

Supporters of Jonathan Roberts attempted to prevent a reporter from taking his picture as he left Worcester Magistrates Court following his hearing. 

Through his advocate Roberts, of Britannia Square, Worcester, gave indicated denials to charges of administering a substance with intent to stupefy/overpower to allow sexual activity; rape; attempted rape and sexual assault on a female. 

He entered no plea to an offence of supplying a controlled Class A drug, Cocaine.

He admitted possession of Class A drugs Cocaine, MDMA,  Acetylpsilocin, Psilocin and Class B drug Ketamine.

The drug offences he admits took place between December 10 and December 22 last year. 

The prosecution alleges the sexual activity happened in Worcester on December 12 last year. 

Deputy District Judge Vijaya Monro told Roberts his case would be sent to the higher crown court, where the matters he denies would also be tried. 

The judge told Roberts the next hearing of his case would take place on September 14 at Worcester Crown Court.

Roberts was given unconditional bail but he was warned he must attend the next court hearing as, if he failed to so, he risked a warrant being issued for his arrest.

Aaron Patel, defended Roberts while Mark Hambling appeared for the prosecution at the hearing on Thursday, (August 17).
