ROMANIAN burglars have admitted stealing high-value watches worth thousands of pounds during two raids - and now face potential deportation. 

Ioan Manolache and George Balan have both admitted burglary following break-ins at Kempsey homes.

They were stopped by police in Worcester, boxed in by marked and unmarked cars and prevented from escaping. 

Now in custody, the Kempsey Rolex watch burglars face jail and possible deportation - if they receive a long enough sentence at Worcester Crown Court.

Both were apprehended during a dynamic stop in Henwick Road in St John's which saw their car pulled over by marked and unmarked cars.

During the burglaries, Rolex and Breitling watches were stolen but have now been recovered and will be reunited with their owner soon.

Rolex watches of this type - Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Just - sell for between £5,700 and £33,524 online.

One burglary happened on Monday, July 3 at a home in Main Road, Kempsey and another at Symbiosis House in Bestmans Lane, Kempsey on Friday, June 30.

Manolache, 35, and Balan, 28, both of no fixed abode remain in custody and are next due to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday, September 7 for sentence.

They appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, August 7 where guilty pleas were entered. A delay was caused as both defendants required a Romanian interpreter. 

DC Will Goodsell of West Mercia Police said: "They have pleaded guilty and are being linked to a few regional offences.

"We intend to reunite the owner with their property as soon as possible."

A foreign national, who is not an Irish citizen, is liable for deportation where they have been convicted of a criminal offence for which they have received a custodial sentence of at least 12 months, or the Secretary of State otherwise considers that the deportation of the foreign national is conducive to the public good; or they are the spouse, civil partner or child aged under 18 of a foreign national who is, or has been ordered to be, deported.
