STORMTROOPERS, gremlins and the Batmobile made their way to Worcester Arena along with scores of comic book fans.

Worcester was filled with fans dressing up as their favourite characters as part of the Worcester Comic Con and Toy Fair event, which took place today (Sunday).

Hundreds had flocked to the family-focused event, which had gaming and a 360-degree photo machine.

Kopy Kats Cosplayers attended the event to raise money for a charity called League, which is against animal cruelty in sports. 

Emma Cardstairs, a member of Kopy Kats, said: “We don’t do it for gain but for the love and charities.

“Every group is different, but for us, we do it for the smiles and the look on children’s faces when they see their favourite characters.”

Throughout the day, children were snapping up photos with their idols and participating in activities like lightsaber training and face painting.

The event had approximately 100 exhibitors selling film, television and anime merchandise.

Stallholder Joanne Gale and her partner Keith from The Retro Arcade said they were pleased with the event.

“It can be interesting seeing people and nice to meet new people," Mrs Gale added. 

“Each event is different, but this one has a nice hum about it.“

The family-friendly event prides itself on creating an inclusive atmosphere for all.

It introduced an earlier admission time to allow people with disabilities to enjoy the show without the crowds.

Mark Woollard of Striking Events, who organised the show, said: "This has enabled many people to come to Comic Con for the first time, and it is really nice that we can do that.

"It goes back to the whole inclusivity angle we are trying to promote.

"Comic Con should be for everyone, no matter who you are or your circumstances.

"So if we can make it so you can come along and enjoy it, we will."

Worcester's next comic con event will be in February 2024.
