THE first stage of one of the city’s biggest regeneration projects is nearing completion with the first flats set to be made available soon.
More than 200 apartments have nearly been built as part of the £150 million Sherriff’s Gate project in Worcester’s Shrub Hill as the first part of the huge regeneration scheme.
The two buildings, John Gregory Court and Wilson Roberts Court, off Sherriff Street, have nearly been built with the first buyers able to secure a flat soon.
The work also includes plans for hundreds more apartments, a hotel, a gym, a multi-storey car park, bars and restaurants, a cinema and a bowling alley.
New bird’s eye images show how the new buildings, next to Worcester Shrub Hill railway station, have taken shape in recent months with the seven-storey apartment blocks now fully in place.
Marking the milestone, Stennard Harrison, managing director at Sherriff’s Gate Developments, said: “The whole project will greatly enhance the appeal of the Shrub Hill area, creating a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike, providing them with a modern and convenient living experience.
“When complete, the revival of Worcester’s Shrub Hill will serve as a catalyst for positive change. “The whole project addresses the need for housing in Worcester and this phase of the scheme presents the chance for Worcester people to embark on the path of home ownership.”
Eddie Campion from the Elliott Group, which will eventually have built 650 apartments on the site, said: “With phase one of the Worcester regeneration project nearing its final stages, we have had numerous milestones to commemorate in recent months.
“The comprehensive transformation is nearly finished with the implementation of façade treatments.
"We would like to express our gratitude to the outstanding on-site team, as well as our dedicated supply chain, design team, funders, and stakeholders for their unwavering commitment.”
Work finally began on the huge regeneration in Shrub Hill last summer after years of delays and more than a decade after the project was first mooted. Sherriff’s Gate Developments said deposits for the first apartments will be offered at £1,000.
