Worcester’s Hopmarket – home to an eclectic mix of shops – will be hosting a month long series of workshops this summer.
The retail space on The Foregate will present packed sessions of free arts and crafts for children of all ages.
Organised and delivered by Spare Room Arts, the activities will be based on a ‘once upon a time’ magical theme.
What's on:
• Wednesday, August 2 – a dragon and fairy wings making workshops;
• Wednesday, August 9 – workshops will include creating crowns, shields and fabric head-dresses made from recycled material;
• Wednesday, August 16 – magic kite workshops;
• Wednesday, August 23 – a summer themed make your own magic wands and puppets workshops.
All the workshops are free with children and families welcome to stay as long as they wish. Soft play and sand pits will be provided for little children. Each workshop runs from 10am until 4pm; booking is not required.
Sarah Edwards from Spare Room Arts said: “We are so looking forward to being back in The Hopmarket this summer; last summer was such a success.

Spare Room Arts has been operating for 14 years, specialising in outdoor events, music festivals and tailor-made workshops. The team at Spare Room Arts work with schools, community groups and on council and arts council funded projects.
The Hopmarket has been a place to do business since 1731 where dealers came to trade hops. In the early 1900s the site was replaced with the current building to become a hotel and bank before being converted to a thriving shopping courtyard.
