A MAJOR new housing project has reached a 'major milestone' and future homeowners will be able to secure an apartment there for a £1,000 deposit.

Two buildings have gone up as part of the £150 million Sherriff’s Gate Developments which seeks to regenerate Shrub Hill in Worcester. The project has already dramatically changed the city's skyline.

The first phase of the development is made up of two buildings - John Gregory Court (105 units) and Wilson Roberts Court (108 units) which are nearing completion.

Estate agents for the first phase of the scheme will be appointed shortly and aspiring homeowners will be able to secure an apartment for just £1,000.

The regeneration scheme, described by developers as 'the largest of its kind in Worcester', aims to 'revitalise the area, creating hundreds of new apartments, many with fantastic views over Worcester and beyond'.

The project will also provide other housing options, a hotel, gym, multi-storey car park, food and beverage outlets, a multiscreen cinema and a ten-pin bowling facility.

The whole scheme is both generating economic growth in Worcester and meeting the housing needs of city residents who wish to step onto the housing ladder.

Stennard Harrison, managing director of Sherriff’s Gate Developments said: “A lack of suitable housing has troubled Worcester for far too long, leaving many individuals and families struggling to find suitable attainable accommodation.

"Our phase 1 of the scheme recognises this pressing need and offers a solution for people to fulfil the dream of home ownership.

“Our first phase presents an unprecedented one-off opportunity for aspiring home owners. By requiring only £1,000 deposit, Sherriff’s Gate is breaking down the financial barriers that often hinder people from taking their first steps towards property ownership. The apartments offered in this phase will be available at an achievable price, ensuring that they remain within the means of individuals and families who are eager to join the housing ladder.

“The whole project will greatly enhance the appeal of the Shrub Hill area, creating a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike, providing them with a modern and convenient living experience.

“When complete, the revival of Worcester’s Shrub Hill will serve as a catalyst for positive change. The whole project addresses the need for housing in Worcester and this phase of the scheme presents the chance for Worcester people to embark on the path of home ownership.”

Speaking this week on the development, Elliott Group Regional Director Eddie Campion said: “With Phase 1 of the Worcester Regeneration Project nearing its final stages, we have had numerous milestones to commemorate in recent months. The comprehensive transformation is nearly finished with the implementation of façade treatments."
