A spokesperson for South Worcestershire Cops said: "Officers visited the O2 shop in Worcester recently.
"The store told police that members of the public were visiting the store for advice about fraudulent phone calls and texts so to help, officers popped by to provide some additional training to staff and support those in the store.
"The training centred around what to look out for, such as mobile numbers being used when a network or bank were asking for personal details, or messages from unknown numbers claiming to be family and needing help."
What to do if you suspect fraudulent action?
South Worcestershire Cops said if people receive a call or text they suspect may be fraudulent they should report it to the police.
While interacting with the person, individuals should consider that a criminal may be on the other side of the phone, answer no to any personal questions and leave the conversation.
If in doubt, hang up and wait 10 minutes or use a different phone to report to Action Fraud.
