This year a £19 million funding proposal from Wychavon District Council got rejected by the Government after the district had hoped it would complement a proposed £100m revamp of the town’s Riverside Shopping Centre.
The £100 million revamp hopes to transform the Riverside Shopping Centre and the town's main shopping area.

Chase Commercial Ltd, acting on behalf of Riverside Shopping Centre’s owner PJK Ltd, has worked with Wychavon to develop a master plan for the site.
The plan includes the potential for 213 residential apartments, a theatre and cinema complex, a hotel, restaurants, cafes, bars, and independent retail outlets.
It will also reconnect the town’s main shopping area with landmarks such as the Bell Tower, the churches of All Saints and St Laurence’s, the Abbey grounds and the Almonry Museum.
The proposal is one of many unveiled by Wychavon District Council to make Evesham a leisure destination that makes the most of its River Avon setting within the next 20 to 30 years.
The council put forward the plans after Wychavon said Droitwich, Evesham, and Pershore were all facing “a perfect storm of issues”, including the aftershock of the pandemic, a permanent increase in home and flexible working, and a spike in online shopping.
Several major high-street brands are set to close stores across the UK in July.
New Look, along with Argos, HSBC and Marks and Spencer, have all decided to close up several of its store across the UK.
