A Worcester student who plays tennis is Malvern has secured a place on Wimbledon courts after serving up success in a county final.
Nunnery Wood High School's Year 9 student, Maddie Walsh, will play at the venue after her success in the county finals of Play Your Way to Wimbledon, Powered by Vodafone.
Maddie saw off the challenge of junior tennis players from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the county finals - the 14-year-old winning in straight sets against Gina Obrey in the final at her home club Manor Park Tennis Club in Malvern.
She has now been invited to immerse herself in the true Wimbledon experience, competing in all white and touring the historic grounds and museum before taking part in the national finals next month.
Maddie has been playing tennis since she was five and is now coached by Redditch Tennis Club's head coach Tony Ravenscroft.
Maddie quickly realised she had a love of the sport and trains at least four times each week splitting her training between Malvern and Redditch.
Maddie said that she would encourage everyone to give tennis a go. She said: "It is a fun sport and a way to make friends.
"I am very excited to be going to Wimbledon and playing on the famous grass courts."
