Broadway Academy is delighted to announce a new and exciting BTEC Level 3 Horticulture Course from September 2024.
Broadway Academy 6th form is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and although we are based in Birmingham we have a satellite centre in Holt Heath, Worcester where pupils will be based. We have a proven track record of vocational and academic success and want you to be part of it!
Pupils enrolling on the course will study a National BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture which is the equivalent to 3 A levels. As part of the course you will complete exciting units such as Plant and Soil Science, Tree and Shrub pruning and Plant Management.
Entry requirements for the course mean that students would need 5 grade 4’s including English and Maths. However, we would consider all applications as students would have the option to complete re-sits.
Students will be based on site and complete work experience there but will also have the privilege of being part a diverse and ever growing 6th form with all of the opportunities that this brings.
There is an extensive induction programme to access and an opportunity to travel up to Birmingham once a week to complete various enrichment activities. This includes representing Sports Teams or being part of the debating or social action and enterprise groups.
Further qualifications are also offered including Duke of Edinburgh at Silver and Gold level, Sports Leadership and the Extended Project Qualification. These awards all carry UCAS points and further support applications to employment, apprenticeships or University.
Pupils will also have access to outstanding careers provision as part of their two year journey to ensure they are ready for the next stage of their Education.
Exceptional pastoral care is at the heart of all we do at Broadway. Pupils will get the chance to zoom into their form class and assemblies every day and receive online support from tutors and the 6th form team, as well as in person during their weekly visits.
It is a fact that students completing vocational courses at Broadway achieve amazing results with an average grade of Distinction * which is the highest possible grade.
If you want to continue your education in a fabulous outdoor setting then this is the course and 6th form for you.
The Academy was inspected by Ofsted in October and achieved a grade of ‘good’. Comments included:
‘Leaders have the pupils best interests at the centre of all decisions they make’
‘Teachers are caring- they take time to get to know pupils, and pupils value this’
‘All staff want pupils to thrive and achieve strong academic outcomes’
‘All pupils including those in 6th form receive high quality impartial information about the world of work’
Our school motto is ‘believe it can be done’. We believe all students irrespective of academic ability, ethnicity or economic situation can succeed. Come and be a part of this and join us today!
