A plan to convert a row of garages on the grounds of a listed Georgian building into new homes has been put forward.
The grade II listed garages and coach house next to Old Baskerville House in Barbourne Road would be converted into new homes as part of new proposals.
The five garages would be converted into two one-bed and a single two-bed homes, and the existing coach house would be extended and converted into a two-bed home.
The main building, Old Baskerville House, was converted into flats in the 1970s.
The council did give the green light to convert the garages into homes in the late 90s and again in 2015 but the work was never carried out.
The existing coach house was converted into a one-bed home in the late 1980s but would be extended to create a bigger two-bed home in the current plans.
A handful of plans to convert buildings around Barbourne Road have been put forward and also approved in recent months.
The move proved controversial with residents in nearby St George’s Lane and other residents in the St George’s Square Residents Association saying the area was already plagued by parking problems.
The empty guest houses are being converted into 12 one-and-two-bed flats under plans by Mi World Services.
A decision is still to be made on a plan to build a ‘modern’ glass extension above the grade II listed Thorneloe House off Barbourne Road.
The application also asks for permission to build four two-bed homes behind the Georgian building.
Several objections have been raised again the plan saying it would “ruin” the look of the listed building.
However, the council’s conversation officer disagreed saying it would cause “less than substantial harm” to the Georgian building.
The plans for Old Baskerville House can be viewed by visiting Worcester City Council’s website.
The application number is 23/00561/LB and the consultation ends on Thursday, July 27.
