PERSHORE Riverside Youth Centre is gearing up to host a Wind in the Willows-themed festival.
The popular event takes place on Saturday (July 15), having returned last year following a Covid-enforced hiatus.
Festival secretary, Liz Tucker, said: “This year's theme is Wind in the Willows – inspired by Kenneth Grahame's magical tale of river creatures - that has thrilled children for over 100 years.
“Mole, Ratty, Badger and of course, the wilful Mr Toad conjure up a world at peace with nature.
“As ever, the festival is a free event, but we hope visitors will come into the Youth Centre to buy teas and cakes and raffle tickets, to help us raise funds for the work of the centre.”
RELIVE the 2022 Pershore River Festival
The River Festival was first held in 2013 but had to be cancelled during the pandemic.
Previous themes include “The Navy Lark” and “Beach Party”.
Fittingly, this year's River Festival will be held amongst the willows of King George's Field and at the adjacent Riverside Youth Centre.
The Avon Navigation Trust and Marine Volunteer Service will both have a strong presence – providing access to water, boat trips and merchandise.
Boats from near and far have been invited to take part and compete for the Best Dressed Boat Award.
Other activities on the water will include opportunities to try paddleboarding, as well as canoeing and cata-canoeing.
On the land will be singing, amusements, refreshments and a range of stalls as well as a luxury raffle with many prizes on offer.
