ALCOHOL bottles and cans litter a park after people made the most of the sunshine at the weekend.
People made the most of the weather in Gheluvelt Park - but left behind a mountain of litter which has been picked up by a good Samaritan Jamie Knight.
Bottles of Old Mout cider, cans of Pimms, bottles of wine and empty water bottles were scattered on the field.
Mr Knight said: "I was out taking the dog for a walk and saw a total mess of beer cans, wine bottles, plastic packaging and boxes.
"This was right next to a bin and the stream that leads directly into the river.
"There was a big gathering there Sunday afternoon, I think they were setting up for a rounders match.
"I just didn’t have the heart to leave it so I went home to get some bin bags and cleaned up."

Cllr Karen Lewing, Worcester City Green Party councillor for Arboretum ward, said seeing the litter in front of one of the many bins at the park is "frustrating".
She said: "When the weather gets nicer and with the lighter evenings as well, it is more common to see litter in public spaces.
"But to see these pictures of the litter almost directly in front of a bin is certainly frustrating.
"I think there has always been a bit of a litter issue in the park but volunteers and gardeners have always tried to keep on top of it."
Cllr Lewing said if the public were able to help keep the litter under control then the park would be a lot cleaner.

She said: "There certainly are not as many volunteer litter pickers as there once were to keep our parks tidy.
"I would like to issue a plea to the public to get more involved in keeping this wonderful park tidy this summer.
"If people were able to pick up and dispose of some litter when they visit, or even get involved with the Litter Equipment Loan Service from the Duckworth Trust, we would be able to keep the park a lot tidier.
"Also, for anyone using the park, please just put your litter in one of the many bins."
