SUNLIGHT pouring into a shop and causing the temperature to rise has been blamed for a dessert shop receiving a one-star hygiene rating.
Cheeky Churro, in New Street, has been told it needs to make 'major improvements' after inspectors visited on Friday, June 9.
The business sells churros, a sweet pastry popular in Spain and Mexico made from deep-fried dough and usually served with cinnamon sugar.
Sheldon Herron, co-director of Cheeky Churros Worcester, said: "It is what it is. It is a small shop and when the sun comes down New Street it shines directly into our window unless we put a canopy up.
"The shop just gets too hot, and effectively this is what is causing problems.
"The one-star review is basically from multiple factors but we are a small shop and small business, and things cost money such as AC units and flooring.
"We are in the process of fixing these issues with the business and we are working full time, flat out to resolve it."
The rating can be viewed on the Food Standard's Agency website, which is updated by Worcestershire Regulatory Services.

The business required improvement in its hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
It also required improvement in its cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, which includes having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
Cheeky Churro's management of food safety required major improvement according to the FSA website.
This entails having a system or checks in place to ensure that any food sold or served is safe to eat.
There also needs to be evidence that staff know about food safety and the food safety officer needs to have confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
