TAKE a look inside a traditional pub which could be the oldest in Worcester - and has a manager who could be one of the city's youngest.
The Cardinal's Hat claims to be the oldest pub in the city as it dates back to the 13th Century at least.
The building is also an inn with six bedrooms upstairs.
Situated on Friar Street, the pub earned its name from the Medieval Franciscan Friary which dominated the area until the 1500s.
Entering the building can feel like you are going back in time.
Throughout its long history, the Cardinal’s Hat has taken many different names.
In the 18th century, it was called the Swan and Falcon, before being re-named the Coventry Arms in the 19th century, returning to its original name in the 1950s.
Despite the name changes, the building has been serving the community as an inn for centuries.
Holly Allen took on the role of manager at just 21 and has been enjoying her new position for the past nine months.
This means she could be the youngest manager in Worcester while working in the city's oldest pub.
And she revealed some interesting facts about the public house.
The pub was first mentioned in 1497 but the cellar could date back to the 13th Century.
Legend has it, the cellar has a tunnel that leads to Worcester Cathedral and was used by Monks during the Cromwell era.
However, this has been called an "old wives tale" and a myth by historians.
Not only that, but Miss Allen said the pub has one or maybe two friendly ghosts residing there.
"We have a ghost called Emily, apparently she wears a white dress and floats about.
"I believe we have another ghost called The Cardinal who sits in the pub by the window.
"Sometimes one of the lights behind the bar will start to flicker and we always know something weird is going to happen.
"They are very friendly and playful ghosts."
When asked to describe the pub in a few words, Miss Allen said "Olde worlde."
The mantle piece has a dent in it from both sides because soldiers used it to sharpen their swords during the Civil War.
"The pub itself carries its own atmosphere, it is important for us to move with the times as well.
"But when you walk in - it feels like an old-school pub.
"Although we have kept the garden modern, we have a roof so people won't get wet if it suddenly starts to rain.
"We also have live music out here and sometimes we get buskers in to play too."
