THERE was an increase in crime in the city according to new figures released by West Mercia Police.
The latest data, which reveals the types of crime reported as well as their location, shows there were 1,050 crimes reported across Worcester in April.
That is the latest month of data released by the force and is up on the month before when there were 998 crimes in March.
In February there were 1,008 crimes; in January 1,147; in December 1,100 crimes and there were 1,077 crimes reported across the city in November.
The most common type of crime in April was violence and sexual assault which had 334 reports.

The second most reported crime type that month was anti-social behaviour which had 188 crimes while third was shoplifting which had 140 reports.
There were 82 public order offences in April including ones reported in Angel Street, ASDA in St Martin's Gate and Blackpole Retail Park.
A burglary was reported at the Co-op in Henwick Road and also at Blackpole Retail Park.
There was possession of weapons crimes reported in Fairmount Road, Goldrill Way, Ennerdale Close, Solent Road and Sansome Place.
