THE jury deliberating in the trial of Carla Scott and Dirk Howell, accused of murdering nine-year-old Alfie Steele, has been sent home for the day.
After a late start on Monday, the jury was called into Courtroom 1 at Coventry Crown Court at 3pm with the Honorable Mr Justice Mark Wall KC telling them to return tomorrow morning.
VERDICT: Alfie Steele's mum and partner guilty of killing nine-year-old
The jury, who heard five weeks of evidence during the trial, began their deliberations last week and have now been out for six hours and 10 minutes.

Howell, 41, of Princip Street, Birmingham, previously admitted child cruelty against Alfie and other children but denies murder, manslaughter, cruelty or causing or allowing the death of Alfie.
Carla Scott, 35, denies murder, manslaughter, causing or allowing the death of Alfie and child cruelty offences against Alfie and other children.
The trial continues.
