A MULTI-MILLION pound luxury holiday lodge development could be ready by the end of the year.

Thirty new lodges are being built behind a countryside pub The Berkeley at Egdon off the main A44 road.

The pub was bought by the Rodenhurst family in 2017 and Ian Rodenhurst set his sights on transforming the open field at the back of the building into a luxury park.

The project has taken about two years and each room is set to have two bedrooms.

Mr Rodenhurst is the owner of the pub and the brains behind the new lodges calling them "his dream".

He said: "Ten years ago I would have never known I would have been doing this.

"I would not have believed you if you told me I would be making holiday homes.

"The whole thing has cost approximately £4million.

"If everything goes to plan, we will have finished the lodges by the end of the year.

"It was my dream to do something like this.

"When I saw the pub for sale, I thought the open field at the back would make good holiday lodges.

"My family are farmers by trade, so something like this would be exciting.

"It has taken roughly two years for us to build.

"It's going to feel amazing when it's built, but it is slowly coming to an end now and we're putting in the landscaping and making it look pretty."

"Planning permission is always difficult, it took us 12 months to get it."

The pub is tucked away in the countryside between Worcester and Pershore but it is just under a 20-minute drive from Worcester City Centre.

But Mr Rodenhurst hopes the lodges will bring more visitors to the village.

"The lodges will bring a lot more business to the area because they will be out spending and the money will come back into the village," he said.

Simon Gresty recently became the landlord of the pub and said he is excited about the construction of the new lodges.
